AccorHotels is known across the world thanks to its portfolio of hotel chains. The French company owns and runs everything from budget chains like Ibis to luxury brands such as Sofitel and Pullman. Now, Accor has added to the top end of its offering thanks to the purchase of FRHI Holdings.

The transaction means that some of the world’s top hotels will now be welcomed into the Accor family, including The Plaza in New York, Raffles in Singapore and The Savoy in London. And all for a mere €2.6 billion (£1.9 billion).

In total, 155 hotels have been purchased by Accor as part of the deal. They are spread across 34 countries around the world.

Accor’s chief executive, Sebastien Bazin, comments,

“It offers us robust and global leadership in luxury hotels – a key segment in terms of geographic reach – growth potential and profitability, for long-term value creation.

“We are positioning ourselves as a key player in the current industry consolidation process while maintaining substantial leeway to implement our transformation plan.”

Accor’s global presence is going from strength to strength, with the name lending its prestige to a wide variety of hotel chains. One high end example is the Mercure brand. Located in some of the world’s most fashionable locations, Mercure hotels are known for their quality offering, both in terms of facilities and service.

The Mercure Natal in Brazil is one of the most recent and perfectly encapsulates the quality and strength of the Mercure brand. Luiz Fernandez, CEO of leading developer Ritz-G5, which operates in the North East region of Brazil, explains,

“The Mercure Natal, in the upmarket Ponte Negra district of Natal is simply stunning. The hotel could not want for a better location – the views over the Atlantic are just gorgeous. With Accor managing it, this is set to be one of Natal’s finest hotels, offering first class amenities, a top location and fantastic customer service.”

The 4-star Mercure Natal will include a total of 252 suites, a private pool, a business centre and a 24 hour concierge.

The Piramide Natal is also part of the AccorHotels offering. Set just behind the delightful Parque das Dunas in a private, secluded location, the bespoke designed beachside hotel will offer 315 guestrooms, its own waterpark, five swimming pools, a swim-up bar, a rooftop terrace, a fitness centre, a spa tub, two restaurants, a 24 hour concierge and a business centre with a capacity for 2,500 seats.

Accor’s continued growth, and in particular the purchase of such world-renowned hotels as Raffles in Singapore, positions it as one of the world’s largest and best known hotel owners. From New York to Natal, the brand is trusted for its commitment to excellence in the hospitality industry – a reputation which will no doubt continue to be enhanced both by Accor’s latest purchase and by its fantastic new sites in Natal.
