Brazil opens its doors to the world as the Olympics approach

All eyes are on Brazil as the world gears up for another sporting event this summer, with Rio de Janeiro hosing the Olympic Games from 5-21 August and the Paralympic Games from 7-18 September.

And Brazil has begun the year as it means to go on – with a concerted effort to make this games the most memorable yet!

The country has take a key step in ensuring the games are accessible to as many sporting fans as possible, by introducing visa waivers for visitors from countries known for their strong Olympic tradition: Australia, Canada, Japan and the US. The visa exemption will be in place from 1 June to 18 September. During that time, 90-day visas will be granted to all those arriving from the specified countries with just their passport.

President Dilma Rousseff approved the measure in November 2015, confirming it at the start of 2016 to the beneficiary countries, as excitement builds now that the year of the games has arrived.

Luiz Fernandes, CEO of leading developer Ritz-G5, which is developing a range of projects in Brazil, comments on the move,

“It’s great to hear that visitors will now find it easier to travel to Brazil and discover this wonderful country, if they are not already familiar with it. The hosting of the 2014 FIFA World Cup opened many people’s eyes and hearts to Brazil and that success looks set to be built on and eclipsed by this year’s Olympic Games.

“Rio is a fabulous city and perfect for the incredible atmosphere that the Games will generate. I hope that visitors also take the opportunity to explore beyond Rio. Natal, in the north-east of the country, is a delightful city and its beaches are just stunning – no trip to Brazil would be complete without jostling across the sand dunes in a buggy or dipping your toes in the ocean while gazing at the horizon from Natal’s golden sandy shore.”

Natal has proven popular with international visitors and Ritz-G5 has been swift to respond to the demand. The company is developing the stylish Mercure Natal, on the doorstep of some of the city’s most fashionable beaches and neighbourhoods; the 252 suite, 4 star hotel affords stunning views out over the beach and ocean.

The Mercure Natal is just the kind of accommodation that is perfect for those visiting Brazil from overseas. In a great location, it provides a luxurious, contemporary home from home that promotes relaxation the moment guests step through the door.

While Olympic fever is set to grip the world once again this summer, those keeping their heads are looking at Brazil in a different light and examining it for its property investment potential, creating an Olympic legacy of their own through the purchase of Brazilian real estate. It looks like a busy year ahead for developers like Ritz-G5 as well as for the world’s athletes!
